'Gulita' is a reflective embroidery artwork that delves into the perplexing dynamics of familial relationships. The title, which translates to "darkness," serves as a metaphor for the unspoken complexities and veiled tensions within the concept of family. It questions the stereotypes and ideals of a family shaped by patriarchal norms and capitalist values, where roles and expectations are often predefined, leaving little room for individuality or deviation.
'Gulita' stitches a story of contrasts: warmth and distance, belonging and estrangement, light and shadow. Each thread invites contemplation of the forces that shape family bonds, exposing both the beauty and the burdens of inherited narratives. This artwork tries to question the truths we inherit and to imagine a love untethered by the constructs of society
